Start by making sure your disposer is turned off; run a hot stream of water (not directly into the disposer) for one minute, then reduce the stream to a small trickle. Insert one of the cleaning bags into the turned-off disposer with the small stream of water still flowing, turn on the disposer, then turn off the disposer once the blue foam disappears after 1-2 minutes, and give the sink a quick rinse.
