A cleaning queen has revealed five genius ways to ensure your home always smells fresh and welcoming.
Chantel Mila, from Melbourne, admitted that odours from food and everyday activities often lingered in her home.
She said that homeowners don’t need expensive air fresheners or daily deep cleans to come home to an odour-free space.
The mum-of-two tested various hacks that make her house always smell good – and shared the best budget-friendly tricks in a video.
A few ingredients you’ll need are vanilla extract, essential oils, baking soda, and shaving cream.
Chantel’s first tip was to place two tablespoons of vanilla extract in a baking dish and put it in the oven to ‘bake’ for a few minutes.
‘Your home will smell like cookies,’ she revealed.
The mum also swears by dunking cotton balls in essential oils and placing them strategically around the house including under bin liners.
Chantel also puts cotton balls inside her vacuum so that the scent goes through the filter every time she cleans the house.
Some objects like dishwashers cling to a ‘musty’ smell when they’re used every day.
To combat the odour, Chantel recommends running one cycle with a cup of baking soda.

The mum’s last tip is a bit of a head-scratcher – but she swears by it.
‘You can neutralise bathroom odours by mopping floors with shaving cream,’ she revealed.
Shaving foam does have cleaning properties because it contains a compound called surfactants, which are made up of detergents and fats and allows dirt to be removed more easily.
The foam also contains 30 per cent soap, emulsifiers, emollients, and has anti-bacterial properties.
